Lucas County to Kick-Off New Program
Lucas County to Kick-Off Program for Economic Growth through Workforce Development
Toledo, OH—Like many communities, Lucas County has a challenge. Employers are seeking skilled workers in specific areas, and workers are looking to put their skills to work at good jobs.
The ACT Work Ready Communities program is designed to bridge that gap.
Lucas County will kick off its participation in the ACT Work Ready Communities initiative on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 9:30 AM on the 8th Floor of Government Center. County Commissioners and Workforce Development leaders will discuss the program and the role it will play in creating economic growth in Lucas County.
ACT Work Ready Communities is a system designed to assist states and regions in developing their workforce pipeline to provide skilled workers for employers.
“We have a strong workforce in Lucas County,” said Carol Contrada, President of the Board of Lucas County Commissioners. “At the same time, we know that some employers are having trouble finding qualified workers. This program is designed to bridge that gap.”
